Two years ago during bow season. Im walking out of the woods to head home about 15 minutes before dark(wasn't a good day and was ready to get home.) I was walking down a cattle road in the wide open when I heard a sound. I stopped looked up and about 175 yds away there were two deer sparring and a larger one circling. This is when It got interesting. I knelt down on my knees between 2 saplings about 6 feet tall alittle bush was directly behind me and the light was dimming. Also heavy woods about 50 yds behind me. So here I sat in the wide open grunting to these bucks. I grunted at them for 5 minutes with no response. Excited to have seen these deer sparring I was ok withnot getting a shot. Then I dont know why I decided to grunt again and rattled some leaves on a small branch beside me The third deer lifted his head the went back grazing. So I began grunt and aggresively thrashing the sapling with a stick I had found. Within moments the buck began to trot my way then he broke into a gallop. I set for a shot At this time I am petrified because he is in a full run straight at me. I shot he startled I dont think he saw me I think he was looking past me to the woods behind anyway when I shot he turned slightly I hit him in the spine and he fell paralyzed at 7yds. Immediatly excitment turned to terror When I realized exactly what just happened. Talk about reguvinating I was a 32 year old man jumping around and hollering like a 12 year old boy. And yes the average size 8 pt is on my wall with the arrow. Thanks for listening to my story just thought I would share.

man would have like to seen that one good story
GREAT STORY! Really enjoyed it!
sweet. That goes to show that things can change in a blink of an eye. Great story thanx for sharing:big_smile:
I appreciate all the nice comments. I have hunted for along time and for the last 10 years bow hunting has become my passion. I finally got to the point that anyone can shot a deer with a high powered rifle but you really have to put in alot of work and patience to consistantly kill with a bow. This paticular deer isnt by far the largest I have killed but it is the most special because how cool the hunt turned out
I had a situation several years ago that both excited and scared the @#^%$ out of me. I was riding through a rural area when I saw a huge buck in the back of a field. I pulled in beside an old barn and got out my camera and headed around the field. I had gotten only 30 or 40 yards when I heard a noise rihgt at my feet. When I looked down there was a big Bobcat crouched right in front of me not three feet away. He did not move and neither did I. I eased my hand into my pocket and pulled out my 22 magnum darringer. I was hesitant to shoot for fear the small weapon would just irritate him but he was making these awful noises in his throat. I put one shot between his eyes. He just slumped and never moved an inch.I have never had such a feeling in my life. It was a beautiful animal and I would loved to have goten some pics of him hunting but also going through my mind were visions of a friend who was attacked by a bobcat when I was small. It was after a stringer of bream.

I love you Brothers and Sisters.peewee
Awesome experience Brandon. Amazing how an otherwise boring day out can turn in an instant. :004:
Thats what I love about this sight. One little thread and two awesome stories to hear. Frank you probably went straight to the trash with shorts. Glad the cat hesitated longer than you.
