I'm looking at installing a new trolling motor on my 17' deep v. I'm looking for suggestions, pros, cons of transom mount vs bow mount, thrust, etc. The boat does not have a seat in the front. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I would go with a bow mount, you'll have more control over your boat. also I would either go with the largest 12V you can afford or a 24 volt system. On those windy days you'll appreciate more power. I have a Motor Guide but Hummingbird works just as well.

Well broke down and bit the bullet, ordered a bow mount Minnkota 50# that has a long control cable to use anywhere in the boat. Tried a transom mount, it just won't work well the way the boat is configured.
