I am looking for a trolling motor to put on my boat. It is a lightweight carolina skiff j-16. A friend of mine has a small trolling motor that is transom mounted. Can these be mounted on the bow? It is hand operated and I can get a longer handle from a boat shop but I haven't seen any mounts for this type of application. Thanks...

I have reversed many transom mounts to bow mount. You just go up under the head and take the screws out that go all the way thru the shaft that holds the head on it and twist it around until the holes line up. You then take a small pointed object and insert it thru the holes to seperate the wires and re insert the screw and tighten it up. That makes it point in the right direction.
As for the mount you might search bass pro or overton's or cabalas to see if they have what you are looking for. Hope this helps.
