Ever been on a slow drift with your MinnKota setting on auto-pilot and all of a sudden it starts spinning around by itself or you find that you can not turn it left or some times you can not turn it right. Stop, don't take it to the repair man just yet. First, clean your battery connections and your plug in connection. Nine times out of ten this will be your problem. This solution also applies to the standard trolling motor.

I've found the same thing, Mac. Another cause can also be rough waters. The motor has to be pretty close to vertical, or the magnetic steering sensor can lose itself. This has happened a few times when the water was pretty choppy.

    Yes clean those cables.
Also if your battery's are going bad. The T/M will also do the same thing.
