I found some logs on the side of the road but I am trying to figure out what kind of trees they came from, I am attaching some pictures of the logs that I picked up. The first two pictures are of the same log, the other picture is what I believe is a white oak

    Thanks for the help

Chris, I am not a tree aficianado, but I can say that neither are white oak. The top pics look like some type of red oak. Don't know what the bottom pic is, though I've seen those trees in the woods.

I'd agree with Chuck, except the first one may also be a cherry?

Both are great firewood and the ash burns fast and hot, The red oak is good for a long burn like at night and a steady heat during the day.

Yelp, first is red Oak. Got a boy next door splitting me up a cord sometime this week. Not sure what that bottom one is, could be an East Texas Rattle Snake ( timber rattler ). LOL Be careful picking up wood on side of road. :D

The first could very well be southern style cherry if not red oak
Hard to tell in those pictures.
Is the wood green or dy? What does it smell like?
    sour smell?

The first one is cherry. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Is the second one part of the trunk or a limb?
