    Guys-
I am new to training dogs, I have a german shorthaired that is 9 months old. i have been trying to shoot around her to try to get her used to the sound of a gun. i will let her out to run and play with my other dog before i shoot. recently when i shoot she has started to come back to me and stays close
(within a couple yards). She doesnt seem to be scared or shaking, but doesnt want to leave my side. does anyone have any ideas or tips for me.

    thanks

    Zach

    Zach,
Do yourself a favor and buy a book called GUN DOG by Richard A. Wolters.
You can get used versions on Ebay of nearly nothing.

When I bought my Brittany the kennel owner told me to buy this book and use it.

The dog was absolutely amazing (now I did put in time almost every day to work with him), you can't teach a dog to hunt birds, you can only teach a dog to hunt birds for you.

His training methods are very straight forward and not "mean", just common sense stuff.

That is what I was going to tell you, I have his Game Dog and Gun Dog books. They are the only way to train a dog.IMHO
