just tryin to get an idea on what everyone is shootin on here and how many people shoot traditional, i shoot a longbow mostly, recurve sometimes, dont run into too many "old school" shooters anymore, id like to see how many are on here. also what all have you taken with it, my longbow has taken deer, rats, squirrels, turkey, and a pheasant, the recurve has taken deer, squirrels, and a skunk.

I Started with a bear whitetail hunter from Fred Bear. The compound made it easier to sight up with the target (deer). Start with a good compound and eventually you will be able to shoot a recurve.

Well... here is another "recurve bow hunter"... been 30 years since I used my Bear 65 lb Bear "magnum" but it was "kick as" as a "kneal down" deer hunting bow..... I can"t pull the F.... ulker now... but that is beside the point....

Never use a compound... but my honest feeling is that that bow is for boys and girls......... Just my opinon...

Never used tree stands... did it the ole oldfashion way... quiet and slow and "smelled good"....

"Bear is a way of life..". but I wear clothes

I've been hunting with a recurve since 1975. Last year I got my 130th White Tail with it. This year I'm retiring from bow hunting, I think.

I hunt with a compound, but I enjoy shooting my recurve. I have shot Deer, squirrels, rabbits, and birds with my compound and I have shot birds with my recurve.

Skunk!?:eek:oooh: Did you retrieve your arrow?
I learned how to shoot with a recurve, but bought a compound to hunt with. Much more steady with the let off, less chance of missing or just wounding a deer imo. A recurve is a good way to learn the fundamentals, if you can get good with one of those, a compound isn't a problem.

I take it you haven't seen Byron Ferguson or any other good stick bow shooters!

I always wanted to get into traditional archery. I bought a recurve last year and realized how much I suck at it. Haha I'm pretty sure I should stick with my compound for the time being. :embarassed:
