Got on the water around 4:30 started fishing for gill right away. Caught only one good gill the rest where really small. Registered around 6:30 and they said we could go as long as we didn't start fishing until 7. So we headed up river got to the first spot around 10 till so my buddy tried to catch some nice gills while I was setting up the poles but no luck. Got out cat poles in the water around 7:15. Got a good run around 8:00 but it didn't take the gill. Fished there until about 10 with no more bites. So we moved up river for a couple hrs and nothing. We moved for the last time to the no wake area and stayed there for the rest of the night. A guy with his son caught a nice flattie around 20 but they were not in the tourney. Caught two small channels there. We tried every thing for the channels but they were just not eating. I actually caught one on bread while I was trying catch carp for bait. Got to weigh- ins / private cove next to the main boat ramp round 6 but nobody was there so we loaded the boat on the trailer. Went back to the weigh ins at 6:30 and a couple people were weighing in and the biggest one was 3.14 until about 06:50. The boat Catfish Fever caught 5 10 pounders and 1 13.5. 13.5 took the biggest fish and they also took the biggest stringer. Only about 10 people weigh in out of 73 contestants. But all and all we had a good time By the way I wont be able to go fishing for a while becuz I am having a baby girl in August. But it will be worth it. So maybe some winter flattie fishing?
