I took my son Thrischon fishing this past Sunday. It was in the low 30's and the wind was blowing in our face. We originally were fishing for gar, drum, and buffalo. Then about an hour before dark we decided to try and catch a few cats. We didn't have any bait with us, so Thrischon used nightcrawlers and I used whatever he caught. Thrischon caught some of the smallest yellow bass and drum I have ever seen. I now call him "Thrischon the Mighty Minnow Slayer". I caught 14 blues and channels in about 3 1/2 hours. All but two of them were over 5 pounds, and the biggest was 13 pounds.

Nice looking fish. Hats off to you and your son. The fishing is always fun but the weather can be a challenge at times. Nice to see you and your son reap the rewards of your efforts.

Thank you everyone for your comments. But I have to give the credit to my wonderful son. It was his idea to go fishing that day. Not only that, but he was happy to catch bait for me so I could catch some really nice cats. I kept asking him to switch over and try to catch a few himself. But he was worried that we would run out of bait. Plus he wanted to catch enough to take home and put in the freezer. He told me he wanted to be prepared for next weekend, when we would fish and freeze all over again.

    More pics from Sunday
