A Tomato is classified as both a fruit and a vegetable. At one time there was a tax on imported fruits so someone lobbied to have it classified as a vegetable. The US Government ok'd it and now it is the only plant in the world that is classfied both ways. Science calls it a fruit and the government calls it a vegetable. It may be the other way around, but I remember seeing it on the History channel and thought it was neat.

Also it was once feared as the plant is a member of the nightshade family.

Most agriculturist/horticulturist consider the magnificent tomato a fruit. So would we really trust our government with a decision this serious?

At one time the tomatoe was called the "love apple" and was considered to be poisonous. I personally don't care if it's a fruit or a vegetable; I call it good eats. Nothing better than a garden fresh tomatoe with a touch of salt.

    Have a nice day.

Tastes good whatever you call it.I think it's a fruit but it tastes on a bacon sandwich than an apple.
