tis that time of year once again where the football season is almost over and for most of the country, the greatest thing on earth is right around the corner.

yep, i'm talkin fishin, the most enjoyable thing for everyone to do. you start gettin out the old fishin videos and watch em, then ya remember that one article about how to catch some crappies in a pond, so ya go lookin for it and while searchin for it, you read almost every other crappie article you come along. and because of this, ya start thinkin about catfish, walleye and so forth and along comes along full fishin fever.

you end up sleepin less at nite tryin to remember all those timely hot spots in your mind because you didnt mark em down or have a gps or maybe the waters 20 feet higher or 20 feet lower. you start thinkin about fishin tackle, the trolling motor batteries..... so much to do and yet it seems like not enough time or... you want to get it all done in one day.

so the weekend comes and you throw the battery chargers on the boat even though fishings a month away, you get out that tackle box and rods and reels out and go through it and throw out all those damn packages that have piled up through out the year. ya start cleanin up them reels and oil em up a little bit and re-string em up, cuzz we all know new stings better than old string, but like always, ya end up having one reel short of line... so a trip to wally world now is on the agenda as well. while also going through that tackle box ya notice a couple jigs or lures that always seemed to catch a few more fish than others in the boz, so ya make a little mental reminder to pick some new ones up at the store as well.

so ya are now in walmart standin there lookin at all the fishin gear like a kid in a candy store..... ya dont know where to start, ya cant control yourself.... you make a mad dash to the "new" item hangin at the end of the isle whilst almost knocking down another guy that you swear appeared outta no where.

there ya stand lookin at the new lures, new colors... which ones do ya grab, which ones dont you???!! ya throw half a dozen of em in your cart, then ya grab some line, at least 3 spools even though only one reel is short, then ya find that "secret" lure that worked so welll last year, and wouldnt ya know it, they have some new colors too, so ya pick up all of them new colors and as your walkin through ya notice this looks good, that'll look like it will work and so ya now realize with all the new gear, your either gonna need a new truck or new tackle box to fit all that gear into... your done.... so ya go to the sporting goods cashier and hold on one moment.... is that a new spinning reel sittin behind that glass case you think to yourself..... you figure, yah, i got a few minutes to ask the cashier to take it out to look at.... your amazed or impressed byt the reel so ya grab that also... now... you need a new rod too. ya end up goin back through searchin for a comprable rod for the new reel and after an hour of pickin up basically every rod they have to offer to get a feel, you are now ready to checkout... only after realizing that ya missed a few other lures the first time around. you finally check out.

as your walkin outta the store.. you now have a little extra giddy up in your step, you feel confident, your on top of the world... you are a fisherman, not just any fisherman... but "THE FISHERMAN"... all this inner pride comes out (even though in the back of your mind you might have to take out a small loan to pay for what ya all bought)... you get in your truck, your in such a good mood that you turn the radio up a liitle and sing along with the songs knowing full good and well that you cant sing worth a darn and the only ones that probably appriciate it are the dogs that howl at the moon....

you get home and are feelin on top of the world... then reality checks in as ya walk in the door and the wife asks.... "how much ya spend this time??!!"

    hope ya enjoyed
