Friday morning we are embarking on a cross county journey to Vegas. Does anyone have tips or things we should check out? We are planning a 3 day drive each way and included are visits to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. We plan on hiking Red Canyon, visiting all the fancy casinos, etc. We are splitting up our time there between the Excalibur Hotel and the Stratosphere but will be taking the kiddos to Circus Circus too. Never been on that long of a trip before, I'm kinda nervous.

Take a picture of the new bridge spanning Boulder canyon .
Have fun in sin city .
That's all I've got for you .:cowboy:

If you are using I 40 be sure to see the painted desert & petrified forest
if not or on your way back check out Monument valley and Durango Colorado or Moab Utah.

Wife and I were there a lot when I worked. Some things you may like ,Death Valley, the outside show at Treasure Island, a beer at Holy Cow. Seafood Buffet at Flamingo. And just for the heck of it (see attachment),BTW the CPR is on the road to Death Valley. The other guy is right, the Painted Desert / Petrified Forrest is a must see,but it is several hundred miles away near Winslow Az. Gonna be hot, hot ,hot . So keep plenty of liquid/ice in the cooler.
We have stayed at both Stratosphere and Xcalabre, Liked Flamingo best of all. But they use to have a great show downstairs at the xcalabre. Kind of a King Aurthr deal with knights jousting and all that stuff. The dinner was a chicken that you ate with bare hands. All in all the show was worth the price and I enjoyed it. Also over off the strip near the Fairmont they have a light/lazer show that is interesting. And inside the Fairmont they used to have a Tony Roma Rib resterurant, good ribs, very good ribs.

1. Visit Spearmint Rhino, one of the finest gentlemen's club in AMerica!

2. Play the $5 blackjack tables only!

3. Have fun!

Jason, we've driven or flew to Vegas several times over the years. Last time was 05. Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam are great sights. Stayed in the parking lot at the Excalibur Hotel the year after they built it in our motorhome. Then in a year or so they built the Luxor in that parking area. The show at the Excalibur was good, kids will also like it. Kids will enjoy Circus Circus. Our last trip we stayed at the Paris, best buffet in Vegas but expensive.

We take in the sights, lots of people watching and shows, not much into making donations to the casinos.

Stop in at the Big Texan in Amarillo, TX and get a FREE 72 oz steak, "if you can eat it all". LOL
We were there last weekend and ate their smaller steak at the musical drama outdoor play "Texas" in the Palo Duro Canyon. The Palo Duro Canyon is our nations 2nd largest canyon.
I'm no musical lover but that is one great show! This year is it's 45th year. It was our 2nd time to see the play.

Enjoy your trip, know you will!

If you plan your trip to take in a few sights maybe not now but when your children are adults they may remember those rather then Vegas ,
Havasupia Indians have the sky walk , you can walk over the edge of GC on a glass walkway..

No,no,no. .. Not even at the threat of death or the encouragement of 3 baptist ministers and 2 gourgous redheads. I would love to see that place but no way could I take that first step.At that height I would get such a pucker factor you couldn't drive a carpet nail in my butt with a sledge hammer,,,,,lol
