I fish the lower Mississippi River and just rescently located a huge sand bar. I've fished it on 2 occasions and tried using cut skipjack as bait but seem to only be getting a bunch of nibblers, pecks and scattered bites and no hook ups. I use a 12 ft. Ocean Master Rod and Large spinning reel for long casts. I've been using 8 oz. sinkers and 6/0 /Gamma Octi hooks with large pieces of Skip and I'm getting casts about 75 yards. Still cant seem to get away from the nibblers. Anyone got any tips on targeting the Big cats in this type of area?
