My dad and I a couple of januarys ago drifted truman lake for 3 straight days and did well ,

we have a large drift sock to slow us down .

we was still fairley new to drifting steve brown showed us how a few years back 5 or so i think . anyway we where hooked on it its a blast .

so that january we wondered if it could be done in the winter so we went and tried it . and the first day we caught 1 over 30 lbs 3 in the 20s a teen or 2 and a couple smaller ones . using the same set up we drift with in the summer .

did about the same the other 2 days of that week .

and to top it off we used shad we had caught that fall and vacuum sealed them and had frozzen .. lol

from what i remeber heads worked the best .

and down at fair field landing in truman the 50 ft channel zig zags

but we hit the bigger fish in the open water around 35 ft deep those 3 days but did catch some in the deep channel also as we drifted threw it .

so YESSSSSSS it can work in winter or we just got lucky

wish i could rember water temp but i cant . but guesing 40 or so ..

all i know some of the guys thought we wheir nuts . lol

we have also done it in march and did well ,, we mix things up if we get borred doing the other fishing methods , break up the same oo same oo thing lol
