I just read an article about a school nurse who takes a cottonball, and goops it up with liquid soap, and coats the tick with it . About 15=20 seconds. the tick will back out, and get caught in the cottonball. Has anyone heard of this?
    Later Andy

We always heated tweezers and touched them to the tick til it started to back out , then pulled it off .

crome said it right dont apply heat .

not sure about the nail polish mike , methods of this nature cause the tick to regurgitate into the wound and make you more likely or susceptible to getting infected by it.
from what i get off the web it says
pulling straight up gently with dull forceps as close to the head as possible
    is the way to go.
then clean area and hands afterwards with soap.
