I love fishing the flooded waters of oklahoma with shad. Here's one way I do it. I got my self a bicycle spoke out of a 10 speed. I took the spoke and flattened one end of it with a hammer. I then drilled a small hole in the flat. Tie a leader to a treble hook, i use 3/0. Thread the leader thru the needle(bicycle spoke). Now get yourself a fresh 8 inch long shad. Cut his tail off and thread the leader up from the tail thru the body and out of the shad's mouth. Pull the leader until the eye of the treble hook is just embeded in the flesh. Tie the leader to the main line and drift the shad thru a deep hole or eddy. The hook up ratio is outrageous. Probably 90% or more. Try it you'll like it.
