Caught this in a reservoir that only lists it as having channel cats. Initially looked like a blue to me but sometimes a big channel can look like a blue too. Anything stand out to clearly ID this as a blue or channel cat?

Dang, so it does seem to be a channel cat. Wish I had gotten a length or weight as it surely would have been a citation fish here in Virginia.

Look at the belly fin if it is flat a blue rounded channel and the blues have more bone in the fin than channels.

I know you can tell by counting the rays in the back fin, I cant remember exactly how many each of the 2 have, but that is def one way to tell.

Theres no question about that one though, that is without a doubt a hog sized channel.

That's a fine channel cat that has ate a lot of CATALPA WORMS!
