    Walk For Freedom kicks off Jan. 6
    Show your support for our troops fighting the War on Terrorism with Morale, Welfare and Recreation's Walk for Freedom Kick-off event Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. at the Cedar Lakes Walking Trail Pavilion. The event is open to the Lawton-Fort Sill community and the goal is 8000 miles from Jan. 6, 2006 to Jan. 5, 2007. Walk 8000 miles from Fort Sill to anywhere in the world and you will reach a location where U.S. Soldiers or civilians are serving in the War on Terrorism. Walkers can earn mileage points for every 30 minutes of sustained physical activity and bonus miles for attending some Fort Sill programs outlined in the Mileage Rewards program available online at www.sillmwr.com.     Community Dinner slated Jan. 6 at Patriot Club
    The Community Membership Dinner, featuring smoked grilled salmon, lemon pepper chicken, asparagus, roasted new potatoes including angel food cake with strawberries - is slated Jan. 6 in the Patriot Club Ballroom. Cocktails will be available at 5 p.m. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. Please RSVP by Jan. 5. To RSVP, call 442-4120. The dinner is free to club members. Meal price for non-members is $15; and children 12 and under cost $7.50.

    Nye Library offers Martin Luther King Jr. display
    Stop by Nye Library, 1640 Randolph Road, during January and check out the Martin Luther King, Jr. display to honor Dr. King's contributions to human rights.     Soldier and Family Networking Night slated Jan. 19 at Gunners Inn
    Soldier and Family Networking Night is Jan. 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Gunners Inn. Family Readiness Group Leaders Soldiers and family members are invited to participate in the information exchange as we learn about the many activities available in the Lawton - Fort Sill community. Representatives from MWR organizations will be available to provide an overview of their programs and answer any questions about how they can assist in the overall success of Family Readiness Groups, Soldiers and families during deployment. Refreshments will be served and child care will be provided. To receive free child care for the event, contact Gail Coffman before Jan. 17 at 442-4682.

    Community Luncheon on tap for Jan. 20 at Patriot Club
    The monthly Membership Luncheon is slated for Jan. 20 at the Patriot Club. The community luncheon is free to club members. The Mexican Menu features cheese enchiladas, grilled chicken fajitas, a taco bar, and all the fixings. Non-club members will cost $8.50.     Impact Zone offers fun every day of the week
    WWE pay-per-view wrestling is slated Jan. 8 at the Impact Zone. Doors open at 4 p.m., and the cover for the event is $4 per person.
    Dance to the classic sounds of the '70s and '80s and groove the night away at the Impact Zone Brewery Boogie Night, Jan. 7, 14 and 28 at 8:30 p.m. There is no cover charge and domestic and microbrew beer pitchers are $4.50.
    Play Texas Hold'em every Friday night at the Impact Zone. The championship is slated Jan. 13 at 7 p.m. NTN is back at the Impact Zone. Practice for Friday night and play Texas Hold'em on the new NTN iTV2 system.
    When you visit the Impact Zone on Fridays between 5 and 6 p.m., you can enjoy a free slice of Godfather's Pizza with the purchase of a beverage at the bar. Godfather's Pizza in the Impact Zone Brewery will honor competitors' coupons.
    The Impact Zone Brewery sells half gallon and gallon jugs of its Microbrew beer. All brews are available "to go" and come in various sizes including 32, 64 and 128 ounces.
    The Impact Zone also offers dance lessons in Salsa, Merengue and Bachata one Saturday each month. The next free workshop is Jan. 21 from 8 to 9:30 p.m.
    Pro Football Playoff Challenge runs Jan. 2 through Feb. 5 at the Impact Zone. Play for weekly local prizes, the national grand prize and random grand prize.
    Stop by the Impact Zone Thursdays for Thirsty Thursdays, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Get a pitcher of soda or Microbrew and 12 hot wings for $8.

    Auto Craft Center Open House
    The Auto Craft Center, 2503 Ringgold Road, will host an Open House Jan. 20 from 2 to 5 p.m. to showcase the facility. Everyone is welcome to see the state-of-the-art facility. The experienced auto technicians will be available to answer questions about the center and services offered. Refreshments will be served during the Open House, and guests are invited to tour the facility.

    The Auto Crafts Center offers a safety orientation each day 30 minutes after the posted opening time.
    The Auto Crafts Center offers brake jobs starting at $50 an axle plus parts to get you to work safely on those cold mornings.
    The Auto Crafts Center offers a winter tune-up special: four cylinders cost $30.99; six cylinders cost $40.99; and eight cylinders will cost $50.99.

    These are starting prices and include spark plugs, timing adjustment and carburetor adjustments where possible. Note: platinum plugs, vans and transverse mounted engine cost extra.

    Auto Crafts Center offers "Happy Half Hour Oil Change" for $2.50
    The Auto Craft Center has lowered the price on pits to $5 an hour, and they have initiated a new policy on all bays. The center now offers half an hour minimum on the first hour and rounds off any extra time to the nearest quarter hour instead of by the hour. For those oil changers who are working in their garages at home to save the $5 an hour lift fee, they will now be able to change the oil for $2.50 -- if they can get it done in 30 minutes or less. The $2.50 entitles patrons to use the facility, tools and have the oil and filter disposed of -- all for one cost.

    Get your vehicle winterized at the Auto Crafts Center
    Winterize your car at the Fort Sill Auto Crafts Center. Anti-freeze testers are available, and the center will dispose of your old anti-freeze. A mandatory safety class is available every day 30 minutes after the center opens. Or, if you don't want to do it yourself, the Auto Crafts Center staff will winterize your vehicle for you. The specialists at the center will inspect hoses, belts, wipers, and tires at no cost, and perform a cooling system flush and fill if necessary. Prices may vary depending upon the amount of service required. The cooling system flush includes labor, one gallon of anti-freeze and one bottle of cooling system flush.

    Vodka 101 offered at Backbone Lounge Jan. 27
    Learn how to make an assortment of vodka drinks at the Backbone Lounge Jan. 27 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Vodka 101. Attendees will sample drinks and take home recipes for a variety of vodka drinks. Cover charge is $10 and includes drinks and appetizers. Call 442-1005 for more information.

    Buddy Bowling special offered in January at Twin Oaks Bowling Center

    Patriot Club offers lunch Tuesdays, Fridays
    The Patriot Club offers lunch on Tuesdays and Fridays - except on training holidays. Each Tuesday's menu will be Chef's Choice and will include the entrée, sides and salad bar.     Hourly child care available at Tincher Child Development Center
    Tincher Child Development Center has reopened their hourly childcare room. Hourly care for children, 6 weeks to 5 years old, is available for registered patrons. Registered patrons should call 442-2320 to reserve a space. For more information, call 442-3927.

    Registration underway for Fort Sill Body Building and Figure Classic in March
    Registration is underway for the Fort Sill Body Building and Figure Classic "Tough as Diamonds" novice/amateur competition. The event is slated March 11 at the Sheridan Road Theatre with prejudging at 9 a.m. and the show starts at 6 p.m. Weigh-in is March 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. Guest poser for the event is Vickie Gates, founder and president of Strictly Fitness in Arlington, Texas. Cost to participate is $15 for active duty military, with an additional $10 to compete in another category. Cost for civilians to participate is $25.
