the way i rig gill heads

    The cats in my pond love gill heads. so you use the stick to push the line through the mouth and out the bottom just to get the line through the fish. Then you tie the hook on once it's through?

    I've been looking all over this forum for this kind of info- thank you!

    you are making it waaay to difficult just cut its head off and hook it in one eye and out the other works great with circle hooks. trebles are for dip bait.

    Going through the eyes like kscathunter suggested is the easiest way.

    I think catma's idea would help with hook-ups if the fish just short strikes at the back end of the head and doesn't get the whole thing in his mouth.

    A crochet hook would work well to pull the line through the head.

    You could even straighten out a barbed hook and use that in a pinch! :wink:
