Well there was so much construction where I was going so I left.. it was too busy and I didn't know where I was going haha.. gonna try the lake instead tomorrow. I'll have to check a map and try it again.
The spillways behind Oakdale and Norway dams have always been decent spots to fish. Just got to be prepared to fish in a rocky area with lots of snags. A bit of a drive but access is fairly easy at both spots.
Lake Shafer is a great lake to fish. Unfortunately public bank access is very minimal.
I bank fished the Wabash at Lafayette one time when I was going to school there, but that's been over 30 years ago. My roommate and I fished several hours one night and ended up with one 10 pound cat and one small sturgeon.
I fish as far north as Cayuga but haven't ever made it quite that far up river. The bank pole/ limb liners have cleaned out most of the monsters, but we bag a few in the twenties every year. My son did get a 60 out of there last year, but fish that size are all but non-existent anymore. No shortage of asian carp and gar though .
