Just want to vent about how completely crappy the Ohio River has been to me this past weekend. Went fishing for the past 2 days drifting live/cut shad in all varieties of water and produced not even a single bite. Sometimes this river of ours really gets my goat!!!!

I should have known better that to try during the great catfish copulation, personally I suppose I would turn down a fresh shad if the females of the species were "in the mood". Oh well there is always work to do and mornings to sleep late this time of year instead of fishing......

Don't feel lonely Bro!.

Myself and Dave(SkipJack) has been out several times over the last couple of years and only until a couple weeks ago we caught only a fish or two. We went out and stopped in a few spots and caught a fish and had a few good runs at each hole. But the best one of all produced a PB for Dave a 46#14oz Bluecat, a beauty of a fish.. to bad the picture attachment page on here is screwed up for some that wants to post a picture of their PB Blue, because everybody would have already seen a picture of it..

But you know the ole saying,, good things come to those who wait!.. well it did that day.:rainbow:

Just keep on hitting it and they will come.

Oh I forgot to mention, That I still have'nt caught a good fish either,,LOL, I'm waiting for the big bite as well..

Went out friday with 2 of my buddys- We only caught 2 small flatheads and a channel cat (biggest was only 6 pounds). That's not so well considering that we were out there for 10hrs. I went back last night with hopes that they would bite once things cooled down. Only caught one gar all night. Bummer.

I have bank fished the Ohio at L-ville and Brandenberg to only be dissapointed my boat ain't capable of handling the big O so that cuts the frustration of dragging my boat all that way for nothing too !

I would have never tried up close to the bank...I kinda thought they would be from 30-50 ft of water with this heat we are having. Maybe I should have tried there. How long do catfish spawn for? Are we talking a month here?

Get shallow, they are spawning. I live on the OH near Charlestown and they are laying right in front of the house on our bank. I can go out on the dock and catch some decent ones on a standup jig with a nightcrawler hanging off of it. They will actually run to hit it like a bass, pretty cool. No giants ones up there right now but 10lbders are fun.

Glad to see it's not just me getting frustrated. I've only caught 2 cats so far this year, 1 lb & 2 lb. I've caught 3-4 hybrid & 1 buffalo that got off the hook, but that's it. I am going to try this evening, while the water is rising again. Too pretty not to try, right?

We went out last weekend and caught 13, this weekend I only managed 3. The 3 were flats all under 8lbs so the bigger guys might be on the nest. Who know though they also might just not have been biting.
