I wait for the mayfly hatches every year. The mooneyes come up out of the MO river and go nuts on the mayflys in the gasconade. The flys cover the trees hangem over the water. I anchor close to a tree and slap the limbs with a paddle knocking a swarm into the water. Then bait up a no 6 hook with 3 mayflys under a small boobber and splitshot 1 ft deep. The mooneyes go nuts on the mayflys in the water. I toss the rig in the middle of the mess and wham mooneye up to 2 lbs sometimes. The action is non stop me and the kidds caught 60 in 2 hrs. Its a great way to have funn and get aload of cut bait.
