Anbody out there ever try the Team Catfish Products - particularly their "dip" baits?
Was thinking of buying some to try for channels during vacation

2- I have never targeted Channel cats specifically. I would appreciate any "pointers".
I'll be staying in the Wyboo Creek area.

Thanks!

I'm buying a couple of buckets of Secret 7 today, I'll let ya know how they work. Glad to hear someone has success with them in SC.

Channels are easy to catch, take several baits like raw shrimp, chicken livers, and the dip bait and fish with small hooks on the bottom and under a cork. At night don't be afraid to fish in close especially if there's structure, grass, or something that will hold baitfish and in turn the cats. You should find them, once you catch a couple on one thing, switch your rods to that til they stop biting then start over.

Also catch the bigger ones (3-15 lbs for me) on cut shad, the above is for eaters up to 3 or 4 lbs.

Personally, I don't use manufactured baits. I see them as nothing more than a way for someone to capitalize on catfish anglers.

I can catch as many, and larger, channel cats on fish from the lake I fish in.

Go to a major catfish tournament sometime and see how many anglers are using commercial baits.
I have to agree, you'll pick up bigger channels on cut bait and my favorite, a small live bream.

But for a relaxed day of fishing especially with kids who want to catch channel cats, not big channel cats, shrimp, liver, and dip baits have their place for sure.

I ordered some of the Secret 7 on Monday, it should be here in a couple of days and I'll let everyone know how it does on Wateree.

i live in greenwood by the lake ive pulled quite a few cats off of sudden impact fiber bait works with treble hooks other hooks it simply falls apart quick i use it as chum bait now i think its a beter river bait hehehe

gotta 3/4 ton rod it great quality for the price

the glow wraps are good but after a few good fishing trips they start to unwrap so u gotta get clear tape to tape them up

nvr had luck with dead red blood spray so i just leave in tackle box :)

I guess its all in what you are fishn for. I bought some stink bait once and used it drifting. Caught about 5-6 small catfish pretty quick and lost interest. I either gave it away or used it for chum, can't really remember now. I do remember that i went on with my cut bait and caught what i was fishn for, "a bunch of big'uns"

One thing i will say, if you don't like for your wife to fish with you, keep a jar of that stuff on the boat.

James, I have great luck with the secrect 7, its good stuff. I carry sunnys and junies in the boat also, some days they will want one more than the other. I've caught channels up to 17 bs on it. I'm not after a monster fish when I go, just want to get some bites and this stuff will get you some. I like dip baits because its easy ( I'm to lazy to go catch bait before I go) Catfishing can be what ever you style is, some only fish for big fish, I just want to catch something

I'm not putting it down because the stuff works. The only reason i even tried it, i seen this little old man and his wife drifting the canal and they had 2 coolers full of fish. I'm talking about 102 qt coolers full of 2-10 lb fish. I thought i would give it a try and it worked but after a few fish i kinda got bored. These days when i take certain people out (my wife)we just like to catch fish, but when i'm by myself i want to hear them clickers scream. I may even give that stuff a try the next time i take my wife:wink:

Thanks for the information.
I'll be taking a bunch of people fishing next, who want to catch a lot of fish.
I'll be trying some of everything - dip bait & cut bait.

Will let you know how I do.

James i forgot to mention my all time favorite bait. When i take the wife, kids, company i always buy a bucket of night crawlers. You can catch bream, perch, and small cats all day long on them. We even catch cats up to 12lbs and ever once in awhile catch a bass and crappies along with the line getting broke. I always start out with worms and whatever i catch is my bait. Good luck on your trip
