Tax break for boaters

    On another site I go to, I saw this, thought I would bring it here. You can get up to .17 per gallon tex credit on fuel that is not used on missouri highways, Boats, lawnmowers, etc.

    We've discussed it here a few times (see the General Missouri Talk forum). The tax refund has been around for years and applies to fuel used for *any* non-highway purpose - your lawnmower, motorcycle/ATV, boat, whatever.

    Just keep your receipts, fill out the paperwork and send it all in.

    The $.17/gal refund meant a whole lot more when gas was $1.25/gal than it does at $3.00/gal... Back then, it was worth the effort. Today, the payback isn't nearly as noticeable.

    I believe you can also get a federal deduction for off-road use of gasoline. And, seems to me that .17 a gallon on $1.00 gasoline is equal to .17 gallon on $3.00 gasoline. The effort in keeping receipts and filing the paperwork is still the same. LOL
