hey i'm from the toledo area been down there a couple of times with none brought in but had a couple break off in the tree stumps one seemed really big but broke off 100lb mono. well any info where,when,day,nite,and bait would be appreciated. peace

Where......the lake. When.....any time bait......live. That's as close as anyone with a clue will give up. I'd say if you've been there and broke off something on 100lb test, something was wrong with what you did. your line almost had to have a bad spot. Most people around who flathead use 20-30 lb and catch plenty of big fish no matter what the cover.

If you've lost big fish you know where to go already. The only downside I have heard about Tappan was that the big gills were hard to come by. They are there, just gotta find them. If you are stuck on shore, it may be a little harder to though.
