Tailraces

    i nwent out yesterday and caught a huge channel and flathead, tons of bites then today they stopped, whats going on, they should all be holding under the spillway right

    Figure that out and you will have figured out one hell of a secret. This is normal fishing your talking about. Sometimes they just don't eat.

    My first question would be are were they running water on both days? When I fish a tailrace it depends on the water flow on how I fish it. If they are running water, I fish close to the dam. If they have shut down the water, then I move on down stream and fish eddies and holes.

    I have had the same problem as you when they are running water, they just shut down. When they do that, I change baits, or I should say I change the way I fish the bait fish, if I am fishing with heads I got to small chunks or fillets, this always seems to work. Dont know why?
