I dont know if this is new but I read in the Ks Reg that you can not tag a fish if released.
And now you can keep shad over 12"

    2010 Regs

    • marking?fish — it is illegal to clip the fins, tag, or otherwise mark fish if they are to be released after catch

    gizzard shad longer than 12 inches may be used for bait;

I also just read that you can still catch 5 blues & 10 channels at Milford. And no 18" length on wipers

    Perry 10 Blues but there is a ( 35" Min length) & 10 channels

    Melvern,Tuttle and Clinton 10 blues & 10 Channels.

I guess there wont be many blues takin out of Perry for a while.

Sorry I was going to say a little more on my last post but my lap top battery was going dead.

I thought it was a mistake last yr in the reg on being able to catch and keep 10 blues and 10 channels But I guess not.

Although I keep fish to eat I would of at least liked to seen them put a length libmit on the blues.

But hey i Guess the fish&game no what they are doing through their studies.

I think I took this wrong
For one you can only keep 5 blues at Perry but here is what they say.

Creel limits for similar species, including largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and spotted bass; or walleye, saugeye, and sauger; or blue and channel
catfish apply to single species or in combination. For example, at Kanopolis Reservoir, an angler may keep five walleye OR three walleye and two
saugeye OR any other combination of the two. A slot-length limit prevents anglers from keeping fish WITHIN a certain size range.

Thanks Tom, reckon I better see if my "Letter of Authorization" to tag Catfish I received from the state back in the 90's is still a valid document.

If not, I'll have to start tagging Carp or something, I've still got a good supply. I KNOW, I could (maybe) put a tag in all the Ladies earlobes at the annual gathering as proof they can show they attended. I'll still keep a log of the numbers, weight, length and girth, probably include hair color instead of species though.:foot-in-mouth::fingers-crossed::rotfl::snicker:

Maybe you should give the tags to Tom. It seems he knows a good place to hang out at the gatherings where the ladies gather.

Sorry Tom, I couldn't help it.

I believe that reg change was because of someone at Marion rev, who was taking 18" wayeyes and trimming their tails to make them 17" fish, KDPW know who it is, but I don't think the reg's adressed the problem, it does now :err:

Nope that was a shad, no teeth in that one. I've caught plenty of goldeye up at 435 and on the Missouri.

All of the over 12in shad that I got during that winter kill back in '08 were mostly dead and picked up
on the shore. I used 'em for cut bait. Was I supposed to leave them for the gulls? What is the problem
with these guys? Can't they pass regs that are enforceable and logical?
