I just installed a new tach on my 1992 johnson 88spl and it works fine until you hit 4000 rpm's and it falls to 0 , can someone tell me what's up? I put the sender pole to the grey wire and the ignition to the solid purple wire [altho there is a purple wire with a white stripe ], and the black to ground /
I open for comments and NEED THEM:eek:oooh: PAPPY3

    this is what I found,
    7. Evinrude/Johnson “Specials” (48/50, 88/90, 112/115 hp etc.): If the pointer falls back to “Zero” when
operating at about 4000 rpm or higher, you may have to add a 2000 ohm, 1/2 watt (or larger) resistor,
connected from the “Send” to “Grd” terminal //// where do I go to find this 2000 ohm, 1/2 watt resistor thanks pappy3
