For trout, I'll use a #14. For the planted catfish, I'll use a #10. For the large fish, I'll use a #3. I've given up on using the ball bearing swivels because I lose the swivels fairly often.

the biggest cheapest, 1/0 brass swivles most of the time. $1.95 for 25 i think at walmart. sometimes when theres a 75% off ben at gander mountain i pick up the good stuff like saltwater snap swivels and stuff like that because i kno its less likely to fail.

I use Gamakatsu Spro Power Swivels size #2 rated at 230 lbs. You can purchase a pack of 50 swivels through catfish connection for $10.50. That comes out to 21 cents per swivel. Cost a little more than the Wal-mart swivels but well worth it knowing you are using a quality swivel that will perform as designed under a load.

The bigger the better. I use a stainless swivel that I believe Berkley makes they are super strong and have big eyes that are easy to tie to at night.

I use 1/0-2/0-3/0 swivels. It all depends on which cat I'm fishing for. Like mentioned before this is an important link in the system. Don't go to small.
