I'm thinking about purchasing a 91' Suzuki 9.9 horse outboard. It's a short shaft, 2 stroke w/ tiller drive. Just wondering what everyones opinons were on Suzuki motors. How do these motors compare to other makes of similiar size? Any Pros or Cons? Any and all info is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Jeffro

My experience with Suzuki outboards is limited to the 5 HP two stroke I own. For its size it is a powerhouse. Suzuki must rate its engines a little different than other manufacturers. I owned a older 5 HP Johnson engine and it would do a good job pushing my Scanoe but the 5 HP Suzuki is a little scary on the same boat. It puts out that much more.
All in all it is a very dependable little engine but it is an older model and parts are a little hard to find. Keep that in mind and keep an extra prop and impeller, ect ect on hand. I stockpiled as many seals and spare parts as I could afford to keep mine going for quite a while.

Browns Point Marine Service stocks parts for most of these small engines.
