A friend of ours has a 75 horse Suzuki ,his problem is if he doesn't use it all of the time it won't start. you can pump the blub up still won't. Only way he can get it started is to take out plugs shoot starter fluid in each plug hole then it will start . what is his problem?

#2 After he gets it running it runs great but it won't idiol . Why.:confused2:

    CArbs need cleaning.
Also starting one like that is not good. Theres no oil there for the pistons.

It sounds like he doesn't know how to prime/choke for starting a cold engine.

Not idoling is usually a crab problem.

He has at least 2 different problems,,1st the idle passages is clogged,,no if ands or butts...PULL CARBS AND CLEAN..2nd is low compression,,it should start with starting fluid shot through the carb,,even though he shouldn't do it,,so a decarb is in order..You can buy decarb from mercury 'carb and engine tuner' or something like that or you can get a large can,,maybe 2 of that PB rust blaster stuff,it works great..with engine running at a fast idle shoot in carburators until engine dies,if more than one carb you will have to repeat this step for each carb..Now pull the spark plugs and with the pistons at T.D.C,,preferable engine tilted up,spray alot,if you fill it thats good with the pb rust blaster, let sit about 3 hour and do the next carb and associated cylinders...Before you start though run engine and warm it up good,,it help the carbon deposits desolve easier,,waynebo
