My local fishin' pard is very superstitious when it comes to fishin'. He does and says all sorts of weird stuff, sometimes at the onset of a trip, but increasing after about 40 Bud Lights. Runs me foolish sometimes. Are any of you tournament and non tournament fisherpeople superstitious?

I am definately superstitious. Certain things help and certain things hurt. Its always something. I dont have any luck so I guess I have to be superstitious.

    I'm not superstitious at all.

No NANNERS in the boat, period. Nada. Zilcho.:smile2:

Other than the nanners, tight lines my friends.

Oh, and I'll help Joey with those Bud Lights

    my lucky hat,
    my lucky reel.
you need to feed the lake gods with first bait,
and a little of coffee goes a long way,
and don't forget that lucky seat in the boat.

i dont believe in luck however, studies have shown that the routines that superstitious as well as none superstitious people go through before sporting events they compete in as well as academic situations improves their performance and outcomes. so to me it is more about the routine.

Well let me tell you the reasons I am superstitious. I have flipped a jon boat in the road, had a hub explode on my trailer, laid my pontoon on its side, broken my thumb getting on the bank to go to the bathroom, got in a car wreck the day before the classic, had someone crawl under my truck and cut wires, popped my trailer off my ball, and well I can go all day but this is why I am superstitious and very careful. It is always something. I get through it though. I just have no luck. I catch fish all week, get in a tourney, and then 2-3 pounders, and hard to catch. Lately I have been sharing more info with others, helping people out with bait, boats, etc, and I have been on a roll. Well I better not say much more or who knows what will happen. In all these instances I was sober and being extremely careful. I treasure my boats and everything within. Oh by the way I am only 26 years old and most of this crap has happened in the past 2-3 years. Wouldn't you be superstitious too?

kinda reminds me of an incident....i was sliding under a car on my creeper and my helper questioned why i didn't use a jack stand..my reply was if God is for you, nothing can hurt you...if God is against you, nothing can save you..i am still alive, but who knows for how long?
