    Im fishing a private pond and have been having bites but i cant seem to hook the fish i have tried j hooks circle hooks and treble hooks any segestions?

    Hum..............maybe go smaller hooks.

    Try some smaller hooks and leave the hook exposed from your bait. More than likely your just getting hits from small fish that either can't easily getting their mouth over the bait and size hook your using.

    Or it maybe that you found some cats that are finicky and are just nibbling at the bait. Changing types of bait might help.

    If it's a pond I'll be willing to bet that your nibbles are bream.

    Go to a #10 wire hook with a wax worm and I guarentee they are shiners which will make some great catfish bait.

    Turtles are also a big factor in a pond too, it could be them.

    That was my first thought. If your bait is coming back in all chewed up you know its them. Ponds are usually loaded up with them.
