Stuck Gear - 25 hp yamaha tiller

    I was Fishing on the river friday and when i got ready to go my motor wouldn't start I checked my gears and found out it would't go in reverse lucky a fisherman was there and pulled me in its a 25 hp yamaha tiller would the gear being stuck have any thing with it cranking and how do I go about un sticking the gears i am a nerd when it comes to stuff like this Thanks

    I know the outboard being stuck in reverse would prevent you from cranking, usually they have to be in neutral for the engine to fire. As far as getting them unstuck, I will let someone who knows more about the LU chime in.

    Its A 25 yahama 4 stroke mounted on a 16 foot Polorcraft

    I'd start by checking the lower unit fluid. When my Tohatsu starts sticking in gear, the lower unit fluid is low/out.
