Just wanted to share a good backup bait for drifting and trolling that I have been having good success with in my area. It has been mentioned in other post that striper can be an effective bait, but I like it pretty good myself and wasn't willing to give any up for cat bait. Then while cleaning a few I wondered how the left over belly meat would work. I took some heavy kitchen shears and after removing the scales I cut out approximately 1 1/2" X 5" strips. That part of the fish naturally tends to be a little fatty, adding scent, and I believe the white color adds visual appeal. Even after being frozen, it is tough enough that I have caught more than one fish on the same piece of bait. I haven't tried it when anchored yet. Anyone else ever try it?
