Wha t Can I use to tie stop knots? Dacron line seems to be the choice from the posts I've searched, but I don't have any around the house. I've got some of the neoprene stoppers but for small line. I've been practicing tying them up with heavy mono. Is mono ok to use or mabey some heavy thread?

Use the twine that bricklayers use for laying bricks, great stuff,it's a wax cord so it's waterproof, I have yellow so it's easy to see and you can tie it on after your rigs are ready to go.........Doc

Wal-mart has some bobber stops cheap. Just buy you a few. I use them.

The best stop knot that I make are made from fly line backing.
Fly fishmen use it on their reels. It is made from dacron material.
Most I have used is flourescent green. You can buy it at any Walmart
sporting goods. It is the same line they use on the pretied ones you buy .

I use leftover power pro, it works great for stop knots! Any braid will work though!

do you attempt to unthread the mason line?
try and see if it wont come apart into 3 smaller strands.
