Jay - I mostly fish the Allegheny and don't use the stinkbaits much but have caught a few Channels on the Danny Kings but in general I much rather use cut bait.

    Welcome to the BOC, Jay!

Here's my outlook on stinkbait. Went to Santee-Cooper this past July. My friends and I are using live sunfish, cut herring, and nightcrawlers. There were 2 12 year old kids with thier parents. The 2 were using stinkbait, then kind where there is a sponge, treble hook, and stinky crap that looks like human poop.

To cut to the story, were we outfished by the 2 kids with mullets.

I think stink baits only work down south. Up here in the north, chicken livers, gob-o-worms, and cut fish works the best.

I haven't had any luck with stinkbaits in rivers,
but in ponds and small lakes I have done very
well with it. Seems to work better when there
    is no current.:0a26:

I am with Blacky and Phillycat not much with stink baits. I have about 5 jars of the stuff laying around. Different brands and "smells" not much luck.
