Is it too cold for Blues in MN and Mich. I could have sworn one of my buddys caught a Blue it was 11 lb. It may have been a channel. It was one of my first trips out earlier this year.

blue - 31lbs
channel - 32 lbs
flathead - 71 lbs

Funny thing about our record blue is that there are no documented blues in any of the Az. waters. I search the game & fish site. Im very familiar with the small pond that it was reportedly pulled out of. Ive seen large channels pulled out of there, but suspect that whoever documented the record from the game & fish dept had no idea what the exact species was. Someone probably mentioned it looked like a blue so was documented as such. Anyone heard of these type of record mistakes in their state?

I think the water gets too cold for the Blue to survive here in MN. I have seen many cats caught on the river, and never a blue....but I do believe there has to be one in MN...somewhere in the Mighty Mississippi.

Many state records that are more than 30+ years old could possibly be misleading...as for the DNR here in MN, they are really thorough now on state record fish, especially after a few people have tried to claim of catching Blues in MN.

No record listed for Blues, but I know we have them here.
Allow me to clarify this statement. (Thanks, DH :0a31: ) We do have Blues in WV, but more recently stocked in the Ohio river. I believe he said 6"? Which would explain why there is no state record for them...yet. I will be sure to let you all know when my name get's added to the list for the state record blue... :grin-big: :craf-big:

to all you southerners out there... When is the best time of year to fish and catch those monsters down there. By the looks of things, I may be taking a trip down south next year to try and catch one of those monsters.
