weve got a biggun and an oldie, 55 pounds even, caught in 1949. i think the flattie is 63.8 pounds caught in 2006 and the bluecat is 97 pounds even caught in 1969. the bluecat was actually the world record for quite a while. they figure it would have been over 100 if thay hadnt left it laying on there boat while they fished for sauger the rest of the day.

here is a pic of the channelcat http://www.sdgfp.info/Wildlife/fishing/FishImages/SDRecordChannelcatfish.jpg

Where I fish mostly(Ga) it is 44 pounds. I have caught a couple over 20 pounds with one going 26 pounds. That fish fought very hard on my big flathead tackle...

NC's state record is only 18 and change. I've personally caught larger ones(low 20's) and I know there are plenty of others that have caught larger ones as well it's just that the state record was recently nullified and most of us caught our big ones before that happened:smile2:. We actually caught three over 20 in one night but since the record was void haven't got one over about 15:angry:

1960 and 1964 are the dates for the 40 pound channel cats.
the flathead record of 47 plus is from 19 fourty freaking three dang!

michigans most bad a$^% record is the tiger muskie. it might be the actual world record and that was set in the year of our Lord 1919 :0a5:

all our records are ultra old. i guess people are quite fond of eating fish around these here parts.

    regards,
    m.a.d.

zeboman - Did you ever hear the story of our Pa. state record Channel Cat? That fish was brought in from out of state and stocked in the Lehigh Canal for a fishing contest that was taking place. Sometime after the contest ended the fish was caught and became the record ! This ticks me off just on the principle of the thing! Whats to stop someone from stocking a 100# Flathead and then catching it and calling it a record? I just don't think its right. Our native Channels dont get nowhere near that big and it pretty much assures the record will never be broken ! Unless someone trucks in a bigger one from out of state :sad2:!
