Anybody doing any good with the full moon? I fish between Lake Monroe & Lake Harney and it's totally shut down since thursday.we only caught bullheads fri & sat night.:bad:
hey when do the american shad run? and where? I catch little thread fin shad about 3" when the water is cooler before spring. I still get some every now and then but there not as concentrated.I always use fresh mullet but they do not seem to favor that over anything else. We are going out this morning and will try every bait (bream, shad, mullet, shrimp, shiners) whatever they hit first usually will be the top bait for the day.
My buddy swears by this he puts mullet in a ziplock bag in the sun all day and uses it.he catches fish just not any monsters but that shit sure stinks.
Also during the American shad run in the winter I stock the freezer with them to use for bait most of them are 3 to 4 lbs so they will last a while as cut bait.
Well headed out will post pics if we get any monsters
any chance you got a few extras made? or will you be making any more soon ? if so any chance you'll make a few extras and let me donate a few bucks to the cause LOL either via matt77 or if we all get to meet up . also can the spoon be tied on a fly rod and be used properely ? ty for the info my friend reps on the wayI use 7/8 oz jigging spoons for the shad.I make them myself this color smoked them last year. As for shad flies johnsons bait on 46 can help you out there. I fly fish but not for shad this spoon will out fish the fly guys 3 to 1.

When I make some I will give you some it's to damn hot to fire up the lead pot right now.any chance you got a few extras made? or will you be making any more soon ? if so any chance you'll make a few extras and let me donate a few bucks to the cause LOL either via matt77 or if we all get to meet up . also can the spoon be tied on a fly rod and be used properely ? ty for the info my friend reps on the way
haha i had no clue you actually poured them too WOW , no problem and if you figure out the labor and stuff involved please add up some numbers and i'll gladly pay you for them. When I make some I will give you some it's to damn hot to fire up the lead pot right now.
I do it in a outside shed and when it's 100 outside i sweat my ass off and cant have it dripping in that hot pot.
As for using on a fly rod it's to heavy I use a light to medium spinning with 20 lb power pro and it works great. The reason for the heavier line is I do catch stripers during the shad run in the winter. Nothing big so far only up to 11 lbs.
Once I make them I will let you know. As for american shad they start around jan and stay maybe through march. Shad for bait is ok around here but I don't have a favorite bait for the St john's. I have used it all and still catch nice channels.haha i had no clue you actually poured them too WOW , no problem and if you figure out the labor and stuff involved please add up some numbers and i'll gladly pay you for them.
also do you catch shad year round or on;y during the shad run in the winter time?
never been crazy about shad or had any luck catching them and used very little as bait , maybe thats what we should use ty again boar .
also i can stop by the local junk yard and see about looting the tire weights if you run short LOL i gave them so many cars cookie is pretty cool about letting me have lil items .
