does anyone know where i could buy a good squirrel dog already trained? i have been looking online and can't find any. my dad loves to go squirrel hunting but he can't hear those nuts dropping or spot them in a tree very well anymore and i want to try the squirrel dog approach. plus i love hunting with dogs whether its coons or rabbits, etc. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Clint you picked the worst possible time to try to buy a trained hunting
dog of any kind. A decent squirrel dog would probably cost at least
    a thousand dollars now.

Mountain curs are good dogs and go relatively cheap for trained hounds. We had a local guy raising them up until 4 or 5 years ago and he sold many of them for $300 or les. I'd try a search for them on the net and maybe narrow it down after you get some leads to someone near you. I had a beagle/spitz mix when I was a kid that was a squirrel hunting fool. He'd try coons too if you stayed out too late.
