Has anybody out there ever used squid for cutbait? I had somebody tell me it works real good but I dont know if he was lieing or not. Any help on this would be appreciated ! I have been curious for awhile.

I have read post that say it is a good cut bait. I have never used it as catfish bait though.

I used it on the Potomac and Rappahanock Rivers in Va. It is like most any other bait, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but it works often enough to use it in your arsenal of baits.

It worked OK for me in the tidewaters of the Savannah River.Bite fell way off as you got farther upstream.Found this to be the same on repeated tries.Would be great tough bait if it worked.Shrimp always out fished it when I fished it side by side in fresh and saltwater whether up river or offshore.I have even caught Rainbow Trout on shrimp in the Nolichucky River at Erwin Tennessee while trying for small Cats.peewee-williams

Squid works very well on many saltwater fish, including saltwater catfish, but it didn't seem to work very well on freshwater cats. If you're looking for a tough, store-bought bait, try some salt pork. Doesn't work as well as skipjack for me, but then, I can't buy skippies at the corner grocery.
