Well gang... I feel a "sickness comming on"........Think I'll head down to Yuma one more time....to sample the hot air fishing.
Not sure if the "Riverbudd boys" we'll still be down that way... but could motor up river 25miles and check it out....
Maybe "Tofish", Gary might be able to join with me and my wife Sharlene....The doors open for Plumbertom1, and the camping is great folks..... hot showers... hot air, and hot water temps...lots of gill back a week ago... bait should hold, but the weather is comming, may have been windy down there today... should be in the high 90's or low 100's but cooler in the evenings....

Maybe we can get some of the "Yuma boys" to come up above Imperial Dam, and join with us...for that matter, you dont need a "river boat" for Squaw and the adjoining canals....anyone...canoes, yaks

Here is a pic of the place where I leave the boat on shore, and I have not seen anyone use the shore campsite..... everyone has their RV or tents closer to the parking lot.... got to walk 150 feet to get to the table/fire-ring....got other sites with a further walk to it, but they look the same.... "not to bad huh",...

Might get out of town Wed night so tha the wife can play the slots at the "ole Trump Casino", then from there to Yuma bout 100 miles....got to be back for work monday, so will probl head back mid day sunday....

    Any takers ??? Bayrunner Ray

Ray, I'm gonna have to pass on this trip.
Too much going on and too little finances.
Have to wait till the end of the month before I can make another long trip.

weather looks great for the trip this week....

    Oct 9
    Sunny
    101°
    68°

with the temps going down into the 90's and low 60's in the evening... Might get the wife out there to help make some bait, and try for some kitties in the early evening.... much better weather than three weeks back as it was HOT an HUMID......

this will be my "first" real fishing trip this yr, so looking forward to it.

can depart from squaw. doesn't matter. we are gonna stop above ferguson lake and drop off wood and clear spot out. he's trying to set up camp site for the scouts doing a float in a few months. if you want to go with us, i'll come by the homestead and let you know. but just be aware we will be spending a hr or two ashore at his future scout scout camp site. you'd have to either sit in boat, or follow us and help me supervise him on how to do it. LOL
be good to see you and wife again for sure. have the coffee on, we will both probably need a cup.

ok ray, sounds good to me. i can put up with the bags. think i may have to think on donating you a perk pot for when i go with ya. :haha:
not real sure what time we'll be there friday morning, but try not and be very late. if you're not ready, you'll be able to catch us where we stop to hide the wood and clear a spot for scouts. i'll tell you where it's at.
really looking forward to seeing both of you again. specially that great wife of yours.

Boy of boy... look at that moon out there.... can't wait to get out there with the tank top and shorts on .... maybe taking a dip or two... and I dont mean that mouth shit.. stuff.... I mean getting wet to cool off some, and swimming with the wife in some sea-clueded spot.... taking in the quietness of no one there..... Yet..... should be a great fishing adventure.... try for some channels with some cut mackeral, and with some live gills for some flats.... Going to plan on the first night with my wife along side, and get a pole out for her "officially".... turn on some music that comes over the air.... free like, and not the stuff from Mexico...

Oh, its time to get off the puter and go out side and finish up loading the RV.... some water to load up, adjust the on-board puter for the drive, and thats about it.... did the bearings earlier and the poles and tackle.. bait ready in the fridge, steak and chicken for the BBQ for a couple of nights, and in passing, back and forth to the RV, Sharlene said we have food for a month if we need to stay over a "spell".....is it retirement yet?

just got back from river trip. had good time. fishing was ???? well okay. brought fish flays home at least. caught, flatties, large and small mouths. striper, channel, gills, and redears. no bragging size. not sure of what others cought though.
met up with ray and wife at squaw friday morning. left there and and SLOWLY made way up to campsite above picacho main park. "we was loaded and lots of sand bars". ray ran up with us that day then went back down to wife. found dale, bill, ryan and put stuff onshore. windy first night, so only fished until 7:30 and came in. sat fished and explored that part of river. ray and wife came up and decided to spend nite. did i mention he has great wife? great day saturday weather wise. no wind, mild temps. "COLD" at night though. sunday, everyone got up and packed boats and headed back down river at different times. best three things i can think of this weekend are these.
    1. i saw some great people again and got to visit with them
    2. my friend russ got to meet them and realizes that people from this site are real down to earth people.
    3. since this is the first time this yr i've been able to relax with family problems of dad dying and such, i really enjoyed myself.

Well gang.. got some time to post now..... Just got off another site that mentions that AZ and Ca are thinking of shutting down 360 acres of water on the Lower Colorado River to kill off species of fish, to create an area to raise minnows of the endangered fish on the River.... Seems that there are other places to do this folks... maybe the other better areas such as water take out places further up the river....

Well, anyway.... My wife and I had a great time enjoying the "very hot" weather on the river.... I even decided to stay in the RV the first nite and get some energy back that the heat took out of me.... The next morning (Fri), Gary (Tofish) and friend Russ were to meet up with me and go up river to meet with other BOC members... "Riverbudd55" Dale, "Billy Joe" and Ryan (??) as they were spending several days on the river .. camping some 20 miles up the river.....

I did a little fishing right out in front of "Squaw Lake" while I was waiting for Gary to show up..... tried a "gil" for 45 minutes while I put out the mackeral bait on another line.... within 10 minutes, the mack started to run, and I set the hook on a 6lb channel....(sorry no pics)... back out agin with mack and a striper took off with a down river run and I got it to the boat with a short play.... I got one more small cat on mack, and then I figured that Gary should be getting close to the launch ramp as it was nearing 8:30 Am.... I was right... as I was going back into the canal that comes from Squaw Lake to the river, I saw His Truck/boat going accross the Dam......We did the hello's and he prepared his boat to carry all the stuff need for the "Boy Scout" "clearing project" up river, and all the stuff needed to camp out on the river for two nights..... I did a quick breakfast... and prepared some (many) drinks for the day and soon departed behind him some 15 minutes...... didn't take to long to catch up with him 4 miles up the river.....

We then went into Martinez Lake to get some "gold fish" for bait.... and then out on the river and back to the "treck" to Picacho up river.... Gary and I have been there many times, and basically you hang on the AZ side most of the way, but there are places that run out of depth of water, and you have to go to the CA side, and then back to the Az side.... At least I have a "plot" made on my GPS and the current path is also being made as we move...... makes it easier when comming back, or when trying to navagate at night......

I sure think that the "Squaw Lake" area would be a great place for a CA/AZ gathering some day... but that will be another post (soon)

Here are some pic, of Gary at the camp site and one of the nice reflection that I "enhanced some" in photoshop, and one with Ryan up front as we meet Dale, Billyjo on the river..... fishing one of my "ole fishing holes"...that had been successful years back.....

More to come later..... Bayrunner Ray

Hey Ray good to meet up with you and the rest, and thanks for the route back, made for a quick trip back. Sure was nice up there, wished we could have of got some more fish. didn't make it back until yesterday dang wind Monday sucked and decided it would be better to hang out a day, that blow sand can do a number on a paint job and windows to your vehicle

glad you made it back down to trailor ok dale. also home. that wind was a killer monday. did ryan make it home by 4:00?
i filled the boat up with gas when we hit town, and got it too full. now sitting in driveway "burping" gas. guess i'll just have to go out and run upriver a ways today to take care of that.
let's try and do this again next spring when just a little warmer and fish are biting better. river will be up higher them too.
