I didn't want to append this to the 12 page drama in the first thread, but thought this would be useful information for everyone.
ARS 5-343 Exceeding Wakeless Speed is a petty offense, not a civil citation like a traffic ticket you might receive on the road. If you don't show up for your court date, you will be charged with a misdemeanor and a warrant will be issued for your arrest, so it's not something to ignore.
It's not a big deal either, though.
The fine amount depends on the jurisdiction. Since most folks were talking about Bartlett, that would mean Mesa Municipal court.
In Mesa Court you can handle this violation a few different ways:
1. Go to court and dispute the ticket
2. Pay the fine
3. Take a boater safety course
Mesa's fine for this violation is pretty nominal. It is nowhere near $500. IIRC, it is around $100. I do know that if you take an an IRL boater safety class, it costs more than just paying the ticket.
However, there is a better way. You can also opt to take the online boating course, which is free, and then take the online test, which is $20. If you fax a copy of your completed online boater safety certificate, they will dismiss the ticket, you don't even have to show up for the court date.
