Caught this bullhead a couple weeks ago in northern Wisconsin, and was wondering if anyone had an idea of the species. My guess is a Yellow Bullhead, but thats just a guess. It was about 18in and 2 lbs 6 1/2 oz.

Thanks! Fish Sculptor Fishmonger Fish

That looks like a brown bullhead, the yellows have white barbels. All of the yellow bullheads I've ever caught were mustard yellow on the belly, although they can be creamy white also.

Yep that's a pretty good sized yellow bullhead--they're good in the frying pan. Growing up that was the only species of catfish in the creek that run through our neighborhood. We used to fry up any size we could get ahold of no matter how small, skin em, gut em, cut the heads off, fry them up with the bones and tail intact then pick the meat from the bone on our dinner plate.
