I have done with spear carp in past summer while I was teen as in high school. I speared about 10 or 15 carps in river while i was wading.

Good job man! You actually speared a carp? Was it from a boat or on shore?

yep I did spear by shore and walk into river. Carps like swimming around near shore in summer... I have to quiet walks, carps are getting easy swimming away from me. but I was practice spear by myself.. and it's not really hard.. I also heard about bowfishing, it's sound awesome but I'd try bowfishing someday!

Fish gigs are pretty cheap. Its kinda fun. When the local river goes out of its banks there are several roads that go under. Carp like swimming in the shallow water. many times you can gig them swimming in water so shallow their backs are out of the water.
You can often get a bow cheap at garage sales. Buy a fishing arrow and a cheapy reel and your in buisness. You can make your own reel by taping a tin can onto your bow. Just wrap your line around the can and it'll unwrap when you shoot.
    best of luck.
    have fun

Need to check with your local DNR, most states require a fishing license.
