Mid-June sounds about right, but my understanding is that not all catfish spawn at the same time, some are early some are late, so I'm sure there will still be some cats in spawn mode.

I caught a blue the other day that was beat up pretty bad so as JPritch stated, some spawn earlier than others. By catching that fish it showed me that some of them are finished with the spawn.
The best way to do it is to go soak some bait in your favorite fishing hole and see what happens. Any day on the water with a line in the water is better than cutting grass or sitting in the house watching tv.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Yea I'm still trying to get the catfish spawn pattern understood on the upper james seems like most cats have gotten slow on the bite lately or either i guess due to the low water and they stay in the holes all day and feeding more at night.

@[email protected]: Yea i hear ya on the bay calling I'm planing a trip down that way soon to try a bit at the cobia still have yet to catch onea(hope that changes this yr ) but stopping in richmond area first for some blue cats.
