I was wondering if anyone can give me some reviews of the southbend baitcasting reels. It seems most on here use Penn or Abu Garcia's. I came across a few on ebay and was wondering if anyone has used them for catfishing. Models I seen were the 550, 300, and 350.
    Thanks

My dad had on old south bend reel for years and years well made and made for river fishing. Have no experience with one made in last 35 yrs.

Sorry, never heard of them. Maybe they are made by a bigger known company, like Zebco or something?

Have you used one ? If some can you give me your opinion of it. They look like a solid reel. All metal ,no plastic with level wind.

South Bend rods and reels that I have seen have consistently been some of the poorest quality on the market. They may make some decent models but I don't trust them based on past experience. I wouldn't buy any rod or reel with the South Bend name on it.
