SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

    I HAVE A 35 HORSE 1984 MERCURY OUTBOARD MOTOR I JUST BOUGHT, ON THE BACKSIDE WHERE THE SPARK PLUGS GO IN THE BLOCK THERE IS WATER COMING OUT THERE IN ALITTLE TRICKLE, THE MOTOR IS RUNNING FINE, IT HAPPENED WHEN I TOOK THE LOWER UNIT OFF, IF IT WAS DOING IT BEFORE I NEVER SEEN IT. ANY IDEAS? GASKET? CRACKED HEAD? PLEASE HELP

    You will need to order you a gasket to go behind that plate. You have to remove the water jacket plate and replace the gasket. Behind that plate you will find the water cavity that encases the piston jugs and that is how it cools those pistons. No biggie just agervating. If you don't fix it , it will only get worse and over heat that engine. Oh by the way taking the lower unit off isn't what caused that it was most likely dripping and only got worse.
