....Another one of my 5-foot trash bag balloons made an amazing journey. About 230 miles away, in Hayesville North carolina. Made the trip in less than 4 hours. that means over 60 mph traveling speed, evidence that the balloon reached a high altitude. this is my fastest and farthest flight yet that has been reported. There are still others to be found. y'all who live in NC keep an eye out!:cool2:

The 4 returns I got were found:
    1. southeast
    2. northeast
    3. east
    4. east-southeast
Wind always seems to go east during the winter. I have tried releasing a balloon during the summer but it is almost always too hot to get enough lift from the balloon. Of course if we do get a cooler day this summer I will try releasing one if it is sunny.

Jon, when one crashes does that constitute a mini Roswell? I wonder how many people you have put over the edge thinking that they have seen a UFO! lol:eek:oooh::lol:

    I have wondered that too.
Someday I think I will make a big saucer-shaped balloon. It will have to be bigger so it is more easily spotted....:lol:

Don't know, but some solar balloons reach over 50,000 feet. This is a smaller one but it could have gone at least half as high, who knows?
